Kernersville – Coy Ray Johnson, Jr., 95, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on December 6, 1926, in Stokes County to the late Coy Ray, Sr. and Vernie Montgomery Johnson. Coy was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved spending time outside mowing and doing yardwork. Coy retired from Amoco Oil Company. He loved to eat at Cagney’s in Kernersville every Saturday, as well as Cagney’s in Midway and seeing his favorite waitresses, Lindsey, Danielle, Jamie, and Brittany.

In addition to his parents, Coy was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Grey Shutt Johnson; one grandchild, Tammy Templeton; and two brothers, Frank, and Hoover Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory, are one daughter, Rita Curley (Jesse); one grandchild, Scott Curley (Angie); three great grandchildren, Brittany Griffin (Tyler), Stephanie Sanfilippo (Michael), and Jacob Curley; two great-great grandchildren, Asher Griffin, and Levi Sanfilippo; and one grandchild-in-law, Tony Templeton.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Eastlawn Mausoleum with Pastor Kivett Hicks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church 429 S Broad St, Winston Salem, NC 27101. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
