Cornelia Lineberry Vaughn, 87, of Walkertown, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 13, 2014 at her home. She was born January 6, 1927 in Jonesville, NC, the daughter of the late Fred Alston and Olive Underwood Lineberry. After high school, she attended Draughn Business College. Upon graduating in 1945, she went to work for Hanes Hosiery and played for the Hanes Hosiery AAU Girls Basketball team in Winston-Salem. She helped her team win three National Championships. Cornelia met her late husband, N.H. ""Sleepy"" Vaughn Jr., while playing for Hanes Hosiery. He played for Chatham Manufacturing Company. They were married September 10, 1949. They returned to Walkertown, joined Loves United Methodist Church and helped formed the Lillie Young Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, N.H. ""Sleepy"" Vaughn, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Melodi Robinson of Walkertown, Kristi Vaughn (Mike Spencer) of Kernersville, son, Brooks Vaughn (Kathy) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren, Emory Robinson, Nerissa Robinson Tyson (Wes), Ryley Hinshaw, Graham Vaughn and Kati Vaughn; three great-grandchildren, Kayzen, Anyston, and Breyden; two brothers, Neal Lineberry (Mary), Leonard Lineberry (Pearl), and one sister, Jean Lineberry Daniel. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, and heartfelt friends. Her passion was making quilts which she shared with family, friends, and many charitable organizations. Each of these quilts and their every stitch was made with love. She made over 900 dresses for the children of Africa along with 28 lap quilts for seniors in the rest home. She was honored by Modern Automotive Network as ""The Citizen of the Month"" for outstanding commitment and service to the community and Love's Church. She received a plaque and Modern Automotive made a one thousand dollar donation in her honor to the local ""Make A Wish"" Foundation. In Cornelia's words, she ""considered giving the money in her honor absolutely wonderful"". A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11 AM at Love's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim White and Erin Lysse will be officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
