Cornelia Johnston Dodd Kelly

Mrs. Cornelia Johnston Dodd Kelly, 98, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on September 24, 1917, in Davidson, NC to the late Richard Sidney and Mattie Hobbs Johnston. Mrs. Kelly was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and previously a member of Green Street United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, and retired from Greyhound Bus Lines. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her first husband, James Herbert Dodd. She later married Howard Eugene ""Gene"" Kelly who also preceded her in death along with one son, James Robert Dodd; one step-son, Howard Eugene Kelly, Jr.; two brothers, Richard Sidney Johnston, Jr. and wife, Sarah, James Paul Johnston; one sister, Frances Froelich and husband, Phillip; and one brother-in-law, Homer Lineback. She is survived by one daughter, Penny Sue Dodd Gaulden of Greenville, IL; one granddaughter, Lisa Gaulden Barber and husband, Dr. George Barber of Greenville, IL; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachariah, Mary Ashley, Abigail, and Samuel Barber; one step-son, Glenn Ray and wife, Pat Kelly of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Ruby Gray Lineback of Winston-Salem; one sister-in-law, Christine Johnston of Winston-Salem; a special niece, Linda Johnston Strader Bailey and husband, Thomas Gordon Bailey of Advance, NC; a beloved great-niece, Amber Strader; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
