Mr. Conrad Willard Whittington, 91, of Walkertown, NC, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Trinity Glen surrounded by family.
Conrad was born in Coeburn, VA, on May 2, 1933, to the late Daniel Willard Whittington and Veadie South Whittington. He grew up in the West Jefferson community in NC.
As a young man, Conrad served in the United States Army before working for the City of Winston-Salem, where he retired as a senior engineering technician. Conrad was active with the Moose Lodge for many years. Later in life, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School. From gardening and beekeeping, to hunting, fishing, and gold prospecting, he loved all things outdoors. Conrad was also a gemologist, enjoyed faceting gems, and creating and repairing jewelry for local businesses. He loved to sing and dance, and was always ready and willing to tell a good joke. Most importantly, Conrad loved his family.
In addition to his parents, Conrad was also preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Pruett and Iris Sexton; and brother, Clement Whittington. Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Sue Tesh; his daughters, Dana Whittington Muto (Melissa James), Lisa Whittington Gamble (Ken), and Rebecca Ann Heath (Chris); his grandchildren, Daniel Muto (Liliane), Katherine Muto Goodnight (Jerry), Sara Gamble, Ben Gamble (Mary Anne Stear), Clarissa Lawrence (Gage), and Matthew Moore; two great-grandsons, Jack and Berrien; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 1:30PM to 2:00 PM at Gardens of Memory – Walkertown in the mausoleum chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Austin Caviness officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
The family extends a grateful thank you to the kind and loving care he received from the excellent staff at Trinity Glen, and Trellis Supportive Care.
