Colleen Watkins Wilkins

Mrs. Colleen Watkins Wilkins, 88, God Mother, of Charles Minter, Jr. and wife, Milda of Lexington, NC and Michael D. Minter, and wife Dawn of Raymond, CA peacefully took her leave for her Heavenly Home on May 24, 2012 at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC. She was born April 11, 1924 in Forsyth County to the late Charlie Vance Watkins and Saluda Robertson Watkins. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Winston-Salem and attended Burlington Assembly of God. She was retired from Sara Lee Knitting with 43 years of service. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters and a grandson, Cody Minter. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Leonard Franklin Wilkins, who is a resident of the Carriage House Geriatrics Memory Care in Greensboro, NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Dan Maloy of Charleston, SC, Christina Minter of Auburn, AL, Morgan Minter of Lexington, NC, Dustin Michael Minter and Ryan Minter of Raymond, CA; a sister, Dorothy Elliott; Caregivers, Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Bonnnie Minter of Lexington, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Michael Stewart, Rev. Bryan Rainbow, and the Rev. Howard Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
