Mrs. Colleen Weavil Coffey, 91, of Winston-Salem died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Grayson Creek of Welcome Assisted Living. She was born May 25, 1923 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Mattie Tucker Weavil. Mrs. Coffey was a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in many church activities. She was retired from Hanes Knitting and loved gardening, sewing and crafts. ln addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Jones, her second husband, Robert Carter, her third husband, Kenneth Coffey and eight siblings. Survivors include one son, Philip Jones and wife, Brenda of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Deborah Sorenson and husband, Michael of Winston-Salem and Sherry Jones of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Jessica Sorenson and Conner Sorenson; and one brother, Charles Weavil of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John Rights officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Coffey's family wishes to thank the staff of Grayson Creek of Welcome Assisted Living and Hospice for their loving care.
