Colin Clyde Hester

Winston-Salem- Mr. Colin Clyde Hester, 94, passed away September 16, 2011 at Regency Care of Clemmons. He was born February 5, 1917 in Forsyth County to the late Zeb and Lula Hester. He was a member of Crews United Methodist Church and was an adult choir member and a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Hester was retired from Western Electric with 31 years of service and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verona McGowan Hester and his brothers and sisters, Sherman Hester, Juanita Beroth, Becky Schipper, Richard Hester, Ray Hester and Thelma Madden. He is survived by his son, Don Hester and wife Laurie; four grandchildren, Travis Hester, Alyson Hester, Allie Willis, and Brooke Willis; a brother, Aaron Hester and wife Shirley; a sister, Mary H. Sawyer. A funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Crews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Crady officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Crews United Methodist Church, 4150 Reidsville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
