Mrs. Coleen Mickey Day, 91, of Pfafftown, passed away at her residence on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
Coleen was born September 4, 1924 in Stokes County to Carl and Thelma Mickey. She was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. With her love of music, she played the piano from the age of 16 and the organ for 30 years at Ogburn Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including stitching, painting, traveling, and reading. Coleen graduated from Mineral Springs High School and Draughn's Business College. She worked as a secretary for Goody's Manufacturing and retired after many years of service. She also volunteered at Forsyth Medical Center for a number of years. Coleen was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Carl Mickey, Jr. and wife Martha Lee and Otho Mickey and wife Ruby.
Coleen is survived by her husband of 68 years, Thomas F. Day. Jr.; son, Craig Day and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Brian Day and wife Sharon, Traci Ricci and husband Rudy, and Jenni Lucas and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren, Daniel Ricci, David Ricci, and Luke Lucas; and brother, Ted Mickey and wife Mary.
A celebration of Coleen's life will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 3 pm at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Copley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:45 - 2:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Robin Draughn and others who gave support and care to Coleen during this difficult time.
