Clyde Roope

Mr. Clyde William Roope, 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 1, 2022, at Universal Healthcare of King. He was born October 23, 1927, in Wilkes County to the late James Sherman Roope and Mattie Billings Roope. Clyde was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and later the United States Air Force where he would earn the WWII Victory Service Medal. He was a graduate of Clevenger College with a degree in business administration. Clyde retired from Lowes Hardware as an office manager before working as the business manager for Woodland Baptist church for over twenty years. Clyde was also a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church for over fifty years and a faithful member to the Ambassadors class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Wayne and Fred Roope, and a sister; Vena Prevette. Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Charleen Roope, two sons; Arnold Roope (Donna Jean), David Roope (Crystal); a daughter, Donna Nolte (Brendan), five grandchildren; Kaylee Roope, Madison Roope, Gracie Roope, Camden Roope, Deanna Nolte, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; one sister, Virginia Dare Neenan (Charles). A funeral service will be conducted 1:00PM Friday February 4, 2022, at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Gammons and Bro. Don Walker officiating. Mr. Roope will lie in state an hour prior to the service at the church.
