Clyde Ray Hicks, 80, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Hospice Home of High Point. Clyde was born on June 4, 1936 to Jessie and Laura Noah Hicks. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 40 years. He was owner of Hicks Lawn Care. Clyde retired from United Metal Recycling in Kernersville with over 28 years of service, subsequently retiring from a second career with D.H. Griffin after a number of years.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hicks; and a brother, Henry Hicks.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Genell Williams Hicks; a daughter, Laura Herring of Marston, NC; two sons, Ray Hicks (Carrie) of Marston, NC and James McCaslin of Stoneville, NC; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Carlton, Justin, Tiffini, Kimberly, Kara, Tina, Brandon, and Breann; five great grandchildren, Trinity, J.D., Jasmine, Aadyn, and Kaia; two sisters, Glenda Holmes and Kay Hicks; two brothers, Scott Hicks (Kathy) and Roger Hicks (Linda).
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kernersville with Pastor Michael Lane and Rev. Tim Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
