Clyde William "Bill" Crawley, Jr.

Mr. Clyde William ""Bill"" Crawley, Jr., died Sunday, December 11, 2016. Beloved son, father, brother and friend, Bill was born in Rutherfordton, NC on September 27, 1943, to the late Clyde William and Edith McDaniel Crawley. The family moved to Winston-Salem in 1954 where Bill graduated from James A. Gray High School and later attended Frederick College in Portsmouth, VA. A graduate of the Winston-Salem Police Academy, Bill served as a police officer for 30 years, participated in an exchange program with the British police, was a motorcycle officer and a field training officer for new policemen. After retirement Bill worked with the U.S. Marshall Service and enjoyed the beach, Lake Lure, NC and loved competing and traveling in the Master Craft boat shows with his wife, Robin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Robin Parnell Crawley; grandson, Justin Dotson; granddaughter, Hailey Dotson; step-son, Tim Leinbach; brother-in-law, Doug Haney; and the mother of his children, Linda Howard Crawley. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Dotson of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Brett William Crawley and wife, Melanie of Roanoke, VA; step-son, Joey Leinbach of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Austin Dotson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Meredith Crawley, Owen Crawley and Benjamin Crawley, all of Roanoke, VA; and three sisters, Lynda Haney of Kernersville, NC, Barbara Crawley Dawson of Rock Hill, SC and Sara Johnson of Winston-Salem. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
