Clyde Bristow

Mr. Clyde Albert Bristow Jr., 76 of Clemmons passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at The Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County. Mr. Bristow was born June 26, 1941 in Wake County to Clyde and Lydia Bristow. He was an accountant for Beroth/Four Brothers Oil Company. He enjoyed all aspects of trains; model train layouts, watching trains traveling railroads across America, riding on trains especially vintage steam engine excursions and visiting railroad museums while traveling in the United States. This love of trains began when he was in the first grade and requested a train from his parents. That request lead to the family building a layout in their home called The Southern Piedmont Lines in the 1950's to Clyde having his own layout of model trains in his adult life. His father was an editor for The Whistle Stop Magazine where the family model train was featured several times as well as in the Winston-Salem Journal newspaper in the late 1950's. This love of trains was only surpassed by his love of traveling with his family and friends. More than once, he struck out across the country with his wife on either a family vacation or bus tours. Many of these trips did include all things about trains and railroads. Clyde was a very humble, gracious and thankful person. The words "thank you" was always being said to people who did acts of kindness and appreciation to those that blessed him daily. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife Brenda; son, Clyde III (Darlene); daughter, Catherine Harris (Buddy) and three granddaughters Rebecca, Deborah and Sarah Harris. Also surviving is a sister, Sylvia Lane and a brother, Douglas (Christine). A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. James C Newsome, Jr. and Rev. Dan Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. in the church parlor prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Sunday School Class of Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27295.
