WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Cletus R. 'Knotty' Long passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Knotty was born October 3, 1927 to Dewey and Ollie Fishel Long in Winston-Salem. He was a Navy veteran and was employed by Davis department stores for many years. Knotty was an active member of Advent Moravian Church as long as his health enabled him to do so. There, he served as a teacher and superintendent of Sunday School, a choir singer, and a member of various church boards. Knotty married Dorothy Guy Long on August 18, 1956. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Bill Long. Knotty is survived by his wife; a brother, Jim Long; two sisters, Louise Pitts and Nancy Myers; two godchildren, Todd and Ashley Miller; and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Advent Moravian Church with the Rev. Keith White and Mr. Bob Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
