Cletus Lacy Darr

Mr. Cletus Lacy Darr, 94, of Winston-Salem went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 24, 1915 in Davidson County to Solomon and Emma Leonard Darr. Mr. Darr was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired from Duke Energy with 35 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and sister; a brother, Fred Darr; sisters, Bertie Cecil, Mamie Conrad, Minnie Lewellyn, Edith Currin and Jessie Peek. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Eula M. Darr of the home; one daughter, Vanessa Underwood and husband Garmon of King; one son, Gary Darr and wife Cheryl of Lexington; one grandson, Sam Darr; a step granddaughter, Tracey Underwood; step great grandson, Tyler Decker; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn and the Rev. Ron Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
