Mrs. Cleo Dunn Petree entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. She was born on February 9, 1916 in Davie County and lived most of her life in the Mt. Tabor Community. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Cleo had a heart for the sick and shut-ins, worked as a nurse for many years and served and visited friends as long as her health permitted. In 2001, she joined another group of friends at Vienna Village in Pfafftown where she continued to visit and bring joy to others. After a serious illness, Cleo moved to Oak Summit Nursing Center in 2006 and made more friends and encouraged more people. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, D. Conrad Petree; a son, Dallas C. Petree; parents, Ollie and Nannie Dunn; a sister, Gladys Foster and three brothers, Leo Dunn, Gilmer Dunn and Vance Dunn. Cleo is survived by a daughter, Brenda Petree Self (Gerald) of Birmingham, AL; a grandson, Allen Conrad Self of Evanston, Ill; a granddaughter, Jessica Lewis Self Rosner (Marc) of Bessemer, AL; three sisters, Lynda Gilley of Kernersville, Lorene Petree of Winston-Salem and Ruth Robertson of Mocksville and two brothers, Hubert Dunn and J.B. Dunn, both of Advance. Her life will be honored with a funeral service at 2:00 pm Friday, March 20, 2009 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Dr. Earl Wilson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.
