Cleo 'Pete' Mendenhall

Mr. Cleo ""Pete"" Mendenhall, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1926 in Davidson County, the son of the late, Felix and Hattie Murphy Mendenhall. Mr. Mendenhall was a two year World War II Veteran, serving his country in Germany. After retiring from Tuttle Lumber Company, he enjoyed raising a garden which he shared with many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernice Mendenhall; a daughter, Nancy (Roger) Loggins; a son, Gary (Brenda) Mendenhall; a granddaughter, Amanda (Keith) Woodle; two grandsons, Tim Mendenhall and Steven (Jennifer) Mendenhall. Funeral services will be conducted on December 29, 2012 at2:00 PM at Canaan United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee H. Strange officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
