KERNERSVILLE - Clarence William Swain, 84, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 3, 1923 in Forsyth Co. to the late Walter Blackburn and Carrie Blanche West Swain. Mr. Swain was an active member of Kernersville Moravian Church for many years. He played in the band and sang in the choir as long as his health permitted. Clarence worked with many of the Chevrolet dealerships before retiring in 1986 from Vestal Pontiac. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Swain. Surviving are his wife, Martha Sue Ogburn Swain of the home; three children, Melanie Stallings and husband John of Burnsville, NC, Dwight Swain and wife Judy of Kernersville, and Tim Swain and wife Irma of Walkertown; five grandchildren, John David and Emily Stallings, Amy Mills, Todd and Dustin Swain; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Kernersville Moravian Church Chapel with Pastor Don Winters officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, December 5, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. Memorials may be made to Kernersville Moravian Church, 504 S.
