Clara Bertha Miller Yates, 90, of Lewisville, formerly of Millers Creek, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home. A private graveside service will be held at Lewisville Baptist Church Cemetery with services by Reverend Bill Messer and Pastor Jim Gore. Mrs. Yates was born on April 24, 1930, in Wilkes County, NC to Foster Daniel Miller and Dora L. Miller. She was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and later Lewisville Baptist Church, a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Yates enjoyed reading her bible, working puzzles, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was married to the love of her life for 72 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rebecca Jane Miller, Maggie May Cockerham, Lillie Bell Huffman, Effie Loretta Bard, Delvia Miller, Evangeline Boyd Cockerham, Mable Beatrice Cockerham, Barbara Candis Bazen, and brothers, Carl Blaine Miller, Donald Harrison Miller, Burl Dean Miller and George Allen Miller. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Yates of the home; one son, Ronald Yates and wife Rosemary of Millers Creek; two daughters, Kathy White and husband David of Lewisville, and Vonda Riley and husband Dave of Lewisville; ten grandchildren, Stephen Long (Aysha), Michael Long (Amy), Emily Long, Gray Long (Christina), Chris White, Nicole Miller (David), Zachary Riley, Noah Riley, Tamara Riley, Pamela Thaxton (Matthew); ten great-grandchildren, Gabryelle Stevenson (Cole), Isabella Long, Mallory Miller, Madison Miller, Ralph Long, Lucille Long, George Long, Cecilia Cross, Riley Thaxton, Jacob Thaxton; one great-great grandchild, Connor Stevenson; sister, Sterlia Faye Miller Bumgarner; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to Lewisville Baptist Church, 125 Lewisville Clemmons Rd., Lewisville, NC 27023. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Trellis Supportive Care and Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory for their care and compassion.
