Cindy Sue Sommers of Winston-Salem, NC, peacefully entered the more immediate Presence of her Lord at the K. B. Reynolds Hospice Home on May 2, 2014. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana on July 13, 1954 to Max and Jacque Sommers. She graduated from Concord High School and attended Indiana University (South Bend) and was a graduate of the New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McCrae. She was an enthusiastic member of Trinity Moravian Church where she was active in Circle 4, LOGOS, the Fellowship Committee, Arts programs and the Wrapped in Love Prayer Shawl ministry. She loved to read, cook, travel, knit, crochet and quilt and happy were the recipients of her talents! She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her life-partner of 20 years, Joyce Carter; her mother, Jacque Sommers of Elkhart, IN; her sister, Maxine (Richard) Grooms of Middlebury, IN; a sister-in-law, Sara (Greg) Gentle; a host nieces and nephews; an ""adopted Aunt,"" Shirley Harris; and her beloved cat, Agnes. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Moravian Church with the Reverends John Jackman and Tripp May officiating, with inurnment in God's Acre. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Instead of flowers, Cindy asked that memorials be sent to the Arts Ministries Fund: Trinity Moravian Church, 220 E. Sprague Street, WS, 27127. ""And in her friendship there is pure delight, and unfailing wealth in the labors of her hands, and understanding in the experience of her company and glory in the sharing of her words.""
