Cindy Smith Martin

Cindy Smith Martin., 56, passed away peacefully at her home in King, NC on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born on December 20, 1966, in Winston-Salem, NC. Cindy was the beloved wife of Clinton Martin. Loving mother of Olivia Martin Hall (Austin) and Austin Martin (Taylor fiancé) both of King, NC. She was the beloved daughter of Rita Smith and the daughter-in-law of Patsy Martin. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Keith Martin (Tina), half-brother, Sam Smith, half-sister, Marty Caune. She was preceded in death by her father, Norris Gilmer Smith. Cindy began her career at Olsten Health Care back in 90’s and continued in the healthcare field at Wake Forest Baptist Health Sciences until she became ill this year.  During her 23 years at WFBHS, she served in several positions in the department of Psychiatry, where she was deeply loved by all who knew her. Beyond her academic career, Cindy loved being with her family.  She always ensured each of them were taken care of and made certain they each felt special and loved. Cindy enjoyed shopping, listening to her family and friends, but mostly being in the company of her family. While Cindy didn’t enjoy venturing too far from home, she loved the beach, and it was the one place that she needed to go each year to enjoy the sun and the sand.  Cindy was a devoted wife and mother and there was nothing more important to her than spending quality time with them.  To say that Cindy was loved would be an understatement.  She never met a stranger, and to know her was to love her.  She was the absolute best friend in the world, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. A service celebrating the life of Cindy will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Woodland Baptist Church or to Trellis Supportive Care.
