Christopher Mills

Dr. Christopher “Chris” Mills, 34, passed away unexpectedly due to a sudden illness on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Chris was born in Burlington, NC. He was a graduate of NC State University with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He then graduated from the VA College of Osteopathic Medicine with honors. Chris graduated from the Wake Forest Baptist Family Medicine Residency Program and went on to graduate from the East Carolina University/Vidant Medical Center Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. He was currently employed as a physician at Novant Health Salem Family Medicine and Novant Health Sports Medicine. Chris is survived by his wife, Kathryn Mills; three children Aubrey, age 6, Natalie, age 3, and Caleb, age 5 months; parents Mike and Denise Mills; brother, Brent Mills (Katie); father and mother-in-law, Phil and Suzanne Weaver; grandmother, Polly Mills; brother-in-law, Justin DeSimone (Alice); three sisters-in-law, Jenny Mikita (Dave), Stacy Hummer, and Cary Casterline (Jason); also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was accomplished tennis player, marathon runner, cyclist, and a full ironman triathlete. But above all, he considered his greatest achievement his family and from them took his greatest joy. He cherished every moment spent with his family. He loved dancing with his children and playing silly games with them. He was fond of taking weekend trips to the beach and mountains. He shared his love of Jesus with everyone he met. He loved a good cup of coffee with friends and encouraged everyone to exercise. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jay McGuirk officiating.  The family will receive friends 6-8PM at the church on November 1, 2018.
