Christopher Alan Hamel

Mr. Christopher Alan Hamel, 58, of Clemmons, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 18, 1952 in Grosse Pointe, MI to Leonard Adolph and Lucille Havlinek Hamel. He was employed with General Motors for 34 years and was currently Chevrolet District Sales Manager. Chris enjoyed cooking and spending time on the boat with his family. Music was his lifelong passion, playing everything from rock and roll to bluegrass. Mr. Hamel's mother preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Lee Hamel; a son, Jeff Hamel and wife Amanda of Clemmons; two daughters, Kristen Meddaugh and husband Mike of Lansing, MI; Laurie Morris and husband Brian of Clinton, TN; a grandson, Logan Meddaugh, his ""pride and joy""; his father, Leonard Hamel and wife Joanne of Clermont, FL and two sisters, Sue Hamel Brown of Vero Beach, FL and Amy Rooney and husband Ed of Georgetown, KY. A funeral mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday August 30, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church by father Michael Buttner. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or to the American Cancer Society, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
