Christine Moss Sands

Mrs. Christine Moss Sands, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 04, 2016 at her home. She was born in Stokes County on May 16, 1940 to the late John Mason Moss and Ada Mae Nunn Moss. Mrs. Sands was a faithful member of Believers Baptist Church in Ararat, VA. She retired from AT&T with 10 years of service and from Hanes Hosiery with 25 years of service. She was the center of her family and church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sands was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Dean Sands, one sister, Lala Moss Boatwright; one brother, Billy Ray Moss. She is survived by her loving husband, James Wilbert Sands; two sons, James Dale Sands and Sylvia, Jerry Dewayne Sands and Tammy, daughter-in-law, Tammy Penley Sands; nine grandchildren: Oshen, Justin, Ashley, Todd, Stephanie, Jordan, Sydney, Mason, and Curtis; eight great-grandchildren: Mia, Ayden, Riley, Parker, Logan, Jonathan, Kyleigh, Tyler; one brother, Charles Moss; and a host of extended family, church family, and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Believers Baptist Church in Ararat, VA with Bro. Jerry Dewayne Sands and Bro. Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Believers Baptist Church, 288 Homeplace Road, Ararat, VA 24053.
