WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Chris James (Hamberis) Berry, 76, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife, son, and family. Chris was born on October 3, 1938 in Klausion, Greece to Demetrios and Antigone Hamberis. Chris came to America in 1956 and was in the restaurant business for over 50 years. He was co-founder of The Carriage House which opened in 1969. In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by three uncles, Sam, Jim, and Hirstophoros. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dean and beloved son, Demetrios; one sister, Antigone; three aunts, Dina, Anna, and Eutihia; four sister-in-laws, Pat (Ted), Glenda, Rebecca (Ed), and Susan (Alan); numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved God children; and all of his friends. Chris was an amazing man and will truly be missed by all who knew him. A Trisagion service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 10:00 am at church with Father Demetri Kangelaris officiating. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is assisting the family.
