Mr. Chordy Hogan Whiteheart, 92, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 16, 1918 in Colfax to Francis Marion and Mildred Duggins Whiteheart. Mr. Whiteheart was a member of Fries Memorial Moravian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the 25th Division and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was retired from the railroad and afterward pursued his passion of finding Indian artifacts. He was a member of the N.C. Archeology Society and his collection was one of the largest in the state. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ted Carroll Whiteheart; and two brothers, Russell Daniel Whiteheart and Francis Marion ""Monk"" Whiteheart. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Whiteheart; a son, Ace Whiteheart and wife Dianne of Charlotte; a grandson, Clayton Whiteheart; and a sister, Peggy Hudson and husband John of Little Washington. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Patricia Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
