Cherry Lane Burnette Beard

Mrs. Cherry Lane Burnette Beard, 67 of Winston-Salem died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born March 2, 1946 in Swain County, NC, the daughter of the late, Grade W. and Estella Lakey Burnette. Mrs. Beard was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Swain County High School, Forsyth Technical Community College, Rutledge College and Winston-Salem State University. Cherry was smart, witty and always dressed to the nines before illness fell upon her. She dearly loved and was most generous with her family and many dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Daniel Clay Beard, Jr. Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Kennedy and Sue Ann Marler; two brothers, Jack G. (Joyce) Burnett and Ted W. (Ruth) Burnette; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
