Charlotte Camilla Snider Stanfield, aged ninety years and one week, went to join her brothers and sisters in heaven on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Charlotte was born on March 18, 1927 in Forsyth County to Charles Louis and Carrie Holder Snider. A lifetime resident of Winston-Salem, she graduated from James Gray High School in 1944. As the youngest of their eight children, she cared for her Dad in his later years while he suffered from Parkinson's disease. Following World War II, she married Elbert Graham Stanfield, Sr., of Roxboro, NC, on September 11, 1948, and they had two sons, Gray and Dennis. Charlotte and Elbert provided the opportunity for both sons to earn college educations. She was employed as a bookkeeper by Brake Center for twenty years before retiring in 1990 and was a lifetime member of Trinity Moravian Church. Following Elbert's stroke, again she provided needed healthcare, this time for her husband the last sixteen years of his life. She is survived by two sons, Elbert Graham (Vicki), Jr. and Dennis Keith Stanfield, both of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Amy (Brent) Martin and Matthew (Melissa) Davis; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, and Zoey Martin, and Makayla and Madalyn Davis; four nieces, Mrs. Janet Paris of Burlington, Mrs. Karen Egerton of Wilmington, Lesia Snider of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Dawn Forrester of Lexington; and two nephews, Alton Miller and Rick Young, both of Winston-Salem. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her five brothers, Charles, Clifton, Eddie, Rodney and Theron; and her two sisters, Carrie and Thelma. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Hospice staff and every member of the Homestead Hills Team. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Salem Moravian Graveyard with The Rev. John Jackman and Rev. Dr. Bill McElveen officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. It is suggested that any memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County: 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Trinity Moravian Church: 220 East Sprague Street Winston-Salem, NC 27127; and/or Sunnyside Ministry of the Moravian Church, South: 319 Haled Street Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
