Charlotte Brown Chambers

Mrs. Charlotte Brown Chambers, 81, of Mocksville died Monday, December 21, 2015 at her home. She was born February 4, 1934 in Creston, NC, the daughter of the late, Fred Joseph and Nell Sutherland Brown. Mrs. Chambers was a longtime member of New Mount Vernon United Methodist Church where she loved preparing communion and teaching Children's Sunday School. She was a 1952 graduate of Riverview High School in Creston and enjoyed keeping in touch with all of her former classmates. She retired as a Legal Secretary from the Veterans Administration following 35 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Washington Chambers and her sister, Mickey Larson. Survivors include five sons, Tony Chambers and wife Debbie, Brian Chambers, Kerry Chambers and wife, Wendy, Tim Chambers, and Neal Chambers and wife, Patti; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at New Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with Dr. Bob McLawhorn officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
