Charlotte Rogers Brookshire

KERNERSVILLE - Charlotte Rogers Brookshire, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Greensboro. She was born on June 6, 1932 in Wilkes County to Vernon and Lucinda Cain Rogers and lived the majority of her years in Kernersville. She was a long time member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church and the Helpful Bible Sunday School Class. Charlotte was a seamstress by trade and a homemaker by gift. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially at the holidays. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, harvesting and canning. Love and care were her greatest gifts and the needs of her friends and family would often take precedence over her needs. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Survivors include her sons, Mark Brookshire (wife, Mary) of Greensboro and John Brookshire (wife, Suzanne) of Kernersville; her daughters, Carol Owens (husband, Junior) of Wilkesboro and Kathy Jones (husband, Will Ramseur) of Madison; four grandchildren, Leigh Ann Owens, Heather Woodie, Tyler Brookshire and Luke Brookshire; two sisters, Joyce Bullis (husband, Ralph) of Moravian Falls and Mildred Edmisten (husband, Wayne) of Wilkesboro; three brothers, Floyd Rogers (wife, Patricia) of Hamptonville, David Rogers (wife, Patty) of North Wilkesboro and Clyde Rogers (wife, Jean) of Moravian Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Haywood Brookshire. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 2 pm at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax and the burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Wednesday before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Wesleyan Church, 119 North Bunker Hill Road, Colfax, NC 27235.
