Charlie Franklin Jones, Sr.

SFC Charlie F. Jones, Sr. U.S. Army, Retired 1931-2013 Mr. Charlie F. Jones, Sr., 82, passed away and went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was born February 26, 1931 to the late Robert Albert Jones and Ella Booth Jones in Forsyth County. SFC Jones ""Charlie"" was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Bowman Transportation. He was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the Duke Blue Devils basketball program; and loved going to the races with his family. He also loved to travel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Moore Jones; brothers, Otis Jones and Ted Jones; and sister, Marie Collins. Surviving are his son, Charlie F. Jones, Jr. and wife, Vickie; his daughter, Rosalind Brennan and husband Paul; three grandsons, Jeramie Eads and wife, Christie, Rev. Jeffrey Jones, and Brian Brennan; one great granddaughter, Kaelan Eads; a brother, Roy Jones and wife, Betty Sue Jones of Kernersville; a sister-in-law, Elinor Jones of Midway; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Full military honors and entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
