Charlie Grey Doby, Sr.

Winston-Salem- Charlie Grey Doby, Sr., 68, of Winston-Salem passed away on November 20, 2011. He was born in Winston-Salem on April 7, 1943, the oldest son of Charlie Henry and Ruth Pollard Doby. Charlie lived in Aberdeen, Maryland in his early adult life and then he and his wife moved back to Winston-Salem. He worked 37 years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his good friends and family. He was a member of Hanes Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Henry Doby and his wife of 38 years, Margaret Louise ""Peggy"" Wyatt Doby and two brothers-in-law, Jim Gross and Guy Wyatt. Charlie is survived by his mother, Ruth Pollard Doby; three children, Charlie Gray Doby, Jr. (Kim) of Advance, Teresa Money (Blaine) of Wallburg, Dwanye Doby of the home; His special love, Diane Tolbert; four grandchildren, Chrystal White, Brian White, Kayla Doby, and Hannah Doby; step-grandson, Christopher Money; a great-grandson, Noah Harden; two sisters, Vivian Gross and Janet Rose (Dale); a brother, Ronald Doby all of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many loving family members in Maryland. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Hanes Baptist Church with the Dr. Ronald E. Wyatt, Jr. and Pastor Jason Holley officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
