Mr. Charles Randall Heath 89, known as Chuck to his many friends, passed away September 23, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
He was born on October 14, 1932, in Brighton, Colorado to Etharage Ruben Heath and Viola Jane Heath and has been a resident of Winston-Salem, NC since 1973.
Chuck graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He retired from Amp, Inc where he spent most of his professional career. As an active member of Piedmont Craftsman, he served both as president of the board as well as a craftsman. His lifelike bird carvings were passionately carved by Chuck and meticulously painted by his wife Sue and are cherished by many family members, friends, and collectors. Most notably, they were chosen to represent the state of North Carolina in 2002 to create a cardinal to adorn the White House Christmas tree.
Chuck served on the associate staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) for several years. He also served in his Church as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and choir member for many years. He cherished his mission trips to Kenya, Africa where he trained local pastors and went village-to-village teaching the Bible.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Susan Heath, and his brother Ralph E Heath.
Surviving are his two children, Rodney Heath and his wife, Deborah and Laura Hylton and husband, Rush; two grandsons, Heath Hylton and his wife Hannah, and Matthew Hylton and his wife (October 1, 2022) Lexi; and two sisters, Barbara Hopkins of Minnesota, and Elaine Delventhal of Hawaii.
Funeral services will be held for Chuck at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway, with Dr. Gary Chapman officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Piedmont Craftsman, 601 North Trade Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, https://piedmontcraftsmen.org/support/
