Charles Hushel Willard

Charles Hushel Willard, 85, of Winston-Salem, husband of Norma Fishel Willard passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at The Oaks at Forsyth. He was born January 23, 1925 in Mt. Airy to George F. and Virginia Lawson Willard. He attended Surry County Schools and served in the U.S. Army in the Americal Division, in the Pacific area during World War II. Mr. Willard retired from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. after 36 years of service. He has been a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and Bible Fellowship, and most recently also a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jess, Chester, and William; sisters, Irene Parker and Florence Nixon. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Norma Fishel Willard; daughter, Donna Willard Garner; granddaughters, Amy Tise (David) of Burgaw and Sissy Nelson of Yadkinville; great grandchildren, Austin Slater, J.R. Evans, Jasmine Evans, Bobby Tise and Jonathan Tise; a brother, Wade Willard (Betty); and sister-in-law, Mary C. Willard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tom Albert and the Rev. Gary Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 at the funeral home.
