Charles Maurice Ward

Charles Maurice Ward of Mocksville passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was the third child of the late John Everett Ward, Sr. and the late Maurine Ruby Todd Ward. He was born on June 30, 1944 at home in Davie County. He graduated from Davie High School in 1962. After working for the NC Dept of Transportation a short time, he took a position as a service technician at Duke Power where he worked for the next 34 years before retiring. In addition to his parents, the ‘Red Fox' was preceded in death by his brother John Everett Ward, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christine; 2 sons - Brent Ward (Rachel) of Clemmons, and Anthony Ward (Stacy) of Advance; 6 grandchildren - Janaa, Reese, Carter, Tristan, Bella, and Caleb. He is also survived by one sister, Judith Lee (Leon) of Young Harris, GA; 2 Sisters-in-Law, LouElla Ward Martin (Leon) of Kernersville and Ernestine Parker (Larry) of Advance; 10 nieces and nephews - Susan Hauser (Steven), Tracy Slater (Gray), Leon Lee, Jr. (Charlene), Paul Parker (Leigh Anne), Peter Lee (Sonya), Ryan Parker (Jamie), Emily Ward, Everett Ward (Amy), Rebekah Ricardo (Nelson), Kevin Parker (Jessica)., and a score of great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Robert Garrett and Rev. Leon Wood officiating.
