Charles E Tippett, age 92 years, died peacefully on September 21, 2015 at Brighton Gardens, Winston Salem, NC, his residence for the past 3 years. He is survived by 3 children, sons Jeff Tippett (Christine) of Yucaipa, California, Steve Tippett (Pam) of New Albany, Ohio; and daughter Julie Tippett Dubuisson (Tom) of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He has six grandchildren, Brad Tippett, Eric Tippett, Nico Tippett, Meredith Healey, Laura Nell Borden, and Kate Dubuisson; and two great grandsons, Alexander Healey and Thomas Borden.
Born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio, he was the only son of Charles Tippett and Violet Mae Smith. He graduated from Lancaster High School, served in the US Army, and went on to graduate from Ohio University after he finished his military service. He married Marcia Kuhns of Lancaster, Ohio in 1949.
Charles belonged to the Episcopal Church and was an active volunteer for his church and the community of New Albany, Ohio. He worked for most of his career as an accountant at Nationwide Insurance, where he made many friends around the country. His kindness and good problem solving skills were mentioned by many co-workers at his retirement party.
After retiring he enjoyed camping and traveling, and riding his bicycle. He had a lifelong passion for music, both as a choral singer and as a fan of jazz and popular music. He was preceded in death by his beloved Lucy Sue Alameda Tippett, of Northport, WA. A private burial will be held in Northport at a later date.
