Mr. Charles Connelly Speaks, 78, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at his home. He was born August 2, 1932 in Forsyth County to Connelly and Grace Templeton Speaks. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in WWII and was retired from Western Electric Company after 31 years of service. Mr. Speaks was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Speaks. Surviving are 3 children, Angela Messick and husband, Michael, Allison Speaks, and William Herbert Speaks; three granddaughters; one great grandson and one great granddaughter; a sister, Mary S. Fort; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jack Nance officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
