Charles Robert Snyder

Mr. Charles Robert Snyder, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Mr. Snyder was born in McDowell County, WV on October 21, 1930 to Arthur and Stella Hicks Snyder. He retired from the United States Air Force with 22 years of service and later retired from the Pipe Fitters Union with 45 years of loyal service. Mr. Snyder was a member of Open Door Church in Beaver, WV. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Snyder loved working with stainless steel making rings and belt buckles which he gave to his close friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virgie Snyder; two sons, Charles R. Snyder of Winston-Salem and Keith Snyder and wife Tammy of Mocksville; a daughter, Katrina Blankenship and husband Randy of Beckley, WV; two granddaughters, Melinda Blankenship and Melissa Gambrell; and three great grandchildren, Kaylea, Jackson, and Kannen. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, October 20, 2014 by the Clemmons Memorial Honor Guard at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, prior to the service, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
