Mr. Charles Robert ""Bob"" Schultz of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Schultz was born in Forsyth County to the late William Nichlos Schultz, Sr. and Helen Deadmon Schultz. Bob was a 1945 graduate of RJ Reynolds High School, where he was the 3rd highest football scorer in NC, he also played in the 1945 East West all-star game. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the Atlantic Theater from 1946-1948. While in the Navy, he played football for the Bainbridge, Md. Football team of the US Navy as a defensive right halfback After his duty of service was completed, Bob was a member and defensive end on the 1948, undefeated freshman football team at UNC Chapel Hill. In May of 1960, he opened and managed the first Savings and Loan Branch Office in Winston-Salem, which was only the second branch of a Savings and Loan in the State of NC. He was the Past President of Forest Hills Civic Club, Past President of the Kernersville Lion Club, and as a Professional Designation, he was a Senior member of the national Association of Review Appraisers, CRA. Bob retired in 1986 after 30 years with Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan Association.Preceded in death by his parents, brother E. Dale Schultz, sister Francis Petcher, and first wife of 30 years Myrtle Burleson Schultz. Most of all he treasured always having a wonderful, caring and loving family. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Corene Mitchell Schultz of the home, a son: William Robert Schultz and wife, Lynn of Raleigh, NC, a daughter, Karen Rene Stoltz and husband, Dennis of Murfreesboro, TN, and three grandchildren; Robert B. Schultz, William M. Schultz and Laura E. Stoltz; brother William N. Schultz, Jr. The Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A Graveside Service will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, September 13 at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem officiated by Rev. Darren Alexander.
