Charles Robert Rush

Mr. Charles Robert Rush, 90, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 24, 1922 in Asheboro, one of four children, to Stacy Bradford and Esther Tillman Rush. Mr. Rush was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church. Charles attended public school in Asheboro. He moved to Hickory where he joined the US Army, serving in the artillery in the Aleutian Campaign in the North Pacific for three years during World War II. After his discharge from the Army he worked for Clinard Electric Company. Following his retirement he opened his own business, Forsyth Appliance as an electrical engineer. He loved roaming, fishing and hunting in the hills of Randolph County with his lifetime friend, Wai Nance. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise Copeland and Mary Sue McDonald and a brother, Donald Rush. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lois Bayne Rush of the home; one daughter, Margaret Karen Knott and husband, Larry Gordon Knott and one son, Charles Dennis Rush all of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Margaret Esther Knott of Wake Forest, NC, Larry Christopher Knott of Winston-Salem and Dustin Price Rush and wife, Melissa of Yadkinville; and one great grandson, Benjamin Ryan Rush. He loved them all. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
