Charles Pope

Lieutenant Colonel Charles Warren Pope, 84, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022.  He was born in Sampson County, NC on December 12, 1937 to the late Erastus and Eva Warren Pope.  Mr. Pope served in the National Guard for 37 years and was a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed golfing, reading, playing basketball, and going to Myrtle Beach for S.O.S.  Preceding him in death were three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Harold Pope.  Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Aurettis G. Pope; two sisters, Janice Blalock and Shirley Coats; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 7, 2022 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Perdue and Rev. Greg Freeman officiating.  Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.  The family receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  The family would like to thank Village Care of King, especially Scott Loder, for all the special care Charles received.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, 5041 Styers Ferry Rd. Lewisville, NC 27023.
