Mr. Charles D. Parker, 75, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a period of declining health. He was born on November 4, 1939 in Yadkin County to the late Henry Bonson Parker and Grace Durham Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Carol Renegar Parker.
Charles graduated from Southwest High School in Clemmons and attended Guilford College. He was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service after almost 40 years of service, and was a recipient of the Million Mile Driving Award. He had many interests, his children, travel, fishing, gardening, and square dancing.
Charles was a longtime, faithful and active member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church serving as teacher and on various committees including Boy Scouts, and Cub Scout Cubmaster.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Jones Parker of 56 years; his three sons, Steve Parker and wife Edie of La Quinta, California; Scott Parker of Sydney, Australia; Michael Parker and wife Emily of Charlotte, North Carolina. Other survivors include sister, Barbara Lawson and husband Terry Lawson; and sister, Shirley Griffin; brothers, Bobby Parker and wife, Angela; and Harold Parker; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church on Jonestown Road in Winston-Salem with the Rev. Marilyn L. Weiler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
