Charles Nesbit, Jr.

HIGH POINT - Charles L. Nesbit, Jr.,90, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 28, 2018 at his home at River Landing Retirement Community where he had been battling several illnesses. Charles was born on March 25, 1928 in Rowan County to the late Charles L. Nesbit, Sr. and Eva Ad Pence Nesbit. Charles served in the US Navy in a combat zone during World War II and was honorably discharged after the war. He retired from FMCA of High Point and was a member of First United Methodist Church of High Point. Only his love for his family exceeded his love to be at the beach enjoying his family, friends and fishing! That love permeates through the family.
In addition to his parents, Charles, Jr. was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Karen Nesbit.
Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Joyce Lain Nesbit - the love of his life; two sons, Gary Nesbit of Nashville, TN, and Michael Nesbit (wife, Angela) of Mason, OH; four grandchildren, Michelle Nesbit Greiner (husband, Adam) of Nashville, TN, Carie N. Cumbee (husband, Matthew) of San Diego, CA, Caroline N. Fullen (husband, Corey) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Mark Nesbit of Nashville, TN; one great granddaughter, Riley Cumbee of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Faye Menius (Tommy) of Salisbury, and Frances Barefoot of Fruit Cove, FL; two brothers-in-law, Robert Lain of Cary, and Jimmy Lain of High Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at First United Methodist Church - High Point with the Reverend Debra Swing officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Epworth Room at the church.
