Charles Boyd Millsaps

Mr. Charles Boyd Millsaps, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home. He was born March 15, 1930 in Cherokee County to Earl McDowell and Chloe Rowland Millsaps. Mr. Millsaps was a kind and loving man who always put everyone's needs before himself. He was known for his sense of humor and the ability to joke and tell stories. He was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church and a former business agent of Plumbers and Pipe fitters, local 640. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Fannie Anderson and Roberta McHan; and a granddaughter, Jessica Hammonds. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Kathleen Millsaps; one son, Dennis Millsaps and wife Susan of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Melinda Crain of Ramseur; three grandchildren, Jodie Little, Jessica Cardwell and Chris Hammonds; two great grandchildren, Gavin Fox Hammonds and Hailie Bateman; one brother, Wayne Millsaps of Silva; and one sister, Helen Dickey of Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3 at Green Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kelly P. Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
