Charles William McIntyre

Charlie William McIntyre, 84, of King passed away July 10, 2017 at Priddy Manor Assisted Living. He was born on March 15, 1933 in Richmond County to Lonnie Alexander and Willie Murphy Black McIntyre. Charlie was raised in the Raleigh Methodist Orphanage with his extended family of many brothers and sisters. From the Orphanage he attended North Carolina State University on a football scholarship. While attending NC State he was drafted into the Korean War where he served in the Army and was a paratrooper. Charlie received his Bachelor's Degree from Appalachian Teacher's College where he met his wife, Martha Wade Beckerdite. Charlie went on to receive his Master's Degree from Radford College. Charlie taught and coached several subjects and sports for the State of North Carolina School system before going into the restaurant business. The Buccaneer Seafood Restaurant located between Walkertown and Kernersville was his first and favorite. Everyone loved ""Mr. Mac"". Mr. McIntyre was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister, Virginia Mullinax. He is survived by one daughter, L'Nell McIntyre and Thomas Chipman; one son, Wade McIntyre and wife Suzette; one brother, Albert Black and wife Carolyn; one sister, Rose Moore and husband Dave; five grandchildren, Andrew Harrison, Hannah Harrison Walk, Micah Harrison Mills, Emily and Chandler McIntyre, along with five great grandchildren, Niki, Lanie, Danica, Eliza, and Gunner. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Midway United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Ireson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Baptist Children's Home, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360 A heart felt Thank You to the staff at Priddy Manor who became our second family.
