Charles Matlock

Mr. Charles Virgil Matlock, 93, passed away February 15, 2018 at his home. He was born August 10, 1924 in Forsyth County to the late Jack Matlock and Ethel Matlock. Mr. Matlock was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a people person and somewhat of a social butterfly, as he never met a stranger. Mr. Matlock was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Western Electric (AT&T) after 41 years of service. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and his sister, as well as a half-brother and a half-sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Ruby Beck Matlock; seven children, Brenda Mitchell, Linda Baird, Helen Klapp, Charles Matlock, Wanda Hoover, Patricia Matlock and Joyce Dowell. Mr. Matlock is also survived by 14 grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery mausoleum chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
