Mr. Charles M. Marsh, 91, died in his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on December 15, 2015, after a brief illness. A longtime resident of Gainesville, Georgia, Mr. Marsh and his wife, Annette J. Marsh, moved to North Carolina to be near family. Charles Marion Marsh was born in Atlanta on October 30, 1924, to the late Louis Franklin Marsh and Nannie Mae Reed Marsh. He grew up in Atlanta, attended North Fulton High School, and won the Emory Award, which bestowed a full scholarship to Emory University. Mr. Marsh left college to serve in World War II. He attended the University of Connecticut as part of the Armed Service Training Program, rose to the rank of staff sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps, and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. After the war, Mr. Marsh worked at Capital Automobile Company in Atlanta before moving his own business, Marsh Distributing Company, to Kennesaw. He and his family eventually moved to Gainesville, where he worked in sales until retiring in the late 1980s. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and he volunteered at Good News at Noon. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Louie F. Marsh, and an infant sister, Ruby Clyde Marsh. Mr. Marsh is survived by his wife, Annette J. Marsh; a son and daughter-in-law, Devon and Debra Marsh of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Reed and Trimble Green of New Orleans, Louisiana; and five grandchildren, Will, Annelise, and Maclean Marsh; and Edward and Charlotte Green.
