Charles Richard Jones

Mr. Charles Richard Jones, 85, of Advance, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Jones was born in Washington, D.C. on October 20, 1930, and grew up in McLean, VA the son of the late Ernest Willie Jones and Grace Gulli Jones. Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Buddy, as known by friends, spent 38 years in the Transportation Industry, with a majority of that time at McLean Trucking Company in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia ""Patsy"" R. Jones; one brother, Billy Jones; and one brother-in-law, Dave Richardson. He is survived by four children, Lynn Marcellino and husband, Tom of Bermuda Run, NC, Lauren Jones Darnell and husband, Steve of Chapin, SC, Liz Spainhour of Advance, NC, and Bud Jones and wife, Becky of Mooresville, NC; nine grandchildren, Ann Marie Marcellino, Matthew Thomas Marcellino and wife, Christina, August Darnell Trammell and husband, Jonathan, Aliza Ann Darnell, Avery Jones Darnell, Max Spainhour, Taylor Nicole Jones, Morgan Alexandra Jones and Charles Richard Jones, III; two great-grandchildren, Caroline Grace Marcellino and Thomas Dean Marcellino; two sisters, Betty Mae Richardson of Montrose, VA and Bonnie O'Connor and husband, Kris of Advance, NC; and one brother, Biffy Jones of Potomac Falls, VA. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Clement's Episcopal Church in Clemmons. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at St. Clement's. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and/or St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 3600 Harper Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Jones family.
