Charles Clement Hines, son of Linda Clement Hines and Samuel Holder Hines, was born September 11, 1921 on the family farm. Charlie, a friend to everyone, joined the Lord and his beloved Margie on July 23, 2015. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having been a member of the WWII Navy Frogman underwater demolition team, a precursor to the Navy SEALS. He worked for Western Electric, retiring after 35 years of service. He was also a natural athlete, enjoying golf and baseball. Charlie and Margie enjoyed 57 years of happiness, and he was truly ""the best dad ever."" He believed in ""live and let live"" and was always there to lend a helping hand to those who needed a fresh start. Charlie is survived by three daughters, Ellen Woods (Bruce) of Raleigh, Mary Cole (Tom) of Cary and Lee Kennedy (Patrick) of Beaverton, Oregon. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Andy Woods, Chelsea Cole, Sarah Cole, Brian Kennedy and Katie Kennedy as well as his very special buddy for four years Sarah Sharpe and his honorary daughter Cindi Hunter (Jody). A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 2:00PM at Parkway Presbyterian Church. Please direct donations to the Parkway Presbyterian Church at 1000 Yorkshire Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
