In addition, he is survived by an aunt, Jo Ann Hughes of Clemmons, NC, many nieces, and nephews, and a very special relative and family that he was able to recently meet. Charlie graduated from James A. Gray High School In 1951. He worked for Western Electric (AT&T) for 38 years. He was a member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church for 74 years. He loved the people of the church and had many special friends there. He enjoyed serving the church by serving on the Board of Trustees and other committees. Charlie spent his retirement doing the things he loved: traveling with Ann, spending time with church friends, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working with the Winston-Salem Foundation helping to provide funding for charities and groups through his Aunt Pauline Carter's donation. He respected and cared about all the people he met and worked with there. Until the end, he enjoyed family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all, he loved God and believed in helping those who needed it. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, December 30, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31 at 1:00 PM at Pine Chapel Moravian Church with Rev. James Demby, Rev. Matthew Allen, and Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating.
