Charles Edward Hayes

Mr. Charles Edward Hayes, 71, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hayes was born on November 27, 1944, in Boone, NC to the late Fred Henry Hayes and Billie Marie Isaacs Hayes. Charles retired from Modern Chevrolet after more than twenty years of service. He was currently employed with Salem Leasing. He never wanted to retire and didn't stay out of work long. Charles enjoyed working on cars or anything else that had wheels and he especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Sharleen Schlotfeldt Hayes and one sister, Barbara Bodenheimer. Mr. Hayes is survived by one son, Brian E. Hayes and wife, Audrey of Clemmons, NC; two grandchildren, Kathryn and Madison Hayes; one sister, Peggy Reid of Lexington, NC; one brother, Tommy Hayes and wife, Lynn of Midway, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2015, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
